Our dietary habits have changed a lot!

The changes in our dietary habits for the last 12,000 years can be basically summed up in one picture (I like simplicity, it helps a lot explain complex concepts). Briefly, today 71% of the calories of the typical Western diet come from the foods that won't available to humans in the Old Stone Age.

New foods brought a lot of benefits such as diversity, easy access to macro and micronutrients, and others. But also new foods brought us some problems - calorie overconsumption, the shift from PUFAs to SFAs, the shift in potassium-sodium balance, and many others. So, this is the reason why you see more than 1,000 diets available today and most of them are trying to reserve some of these changes!

So, think about your diet, pick your food wisely, stay healthy and be happy!
